BIM (Building Information Modeling) Consulting

Joe Architect, Inc. was established in 1999 utilizing a BIM process for both design and construction documents. As an early adopter of this cutting edge software technology, Joe has been led across the country to work on projects with such clients as: the United States Coast Guard, the Smithsonian Institute, the Maryland-National Capital Parks and Planning Commission and the General Services Administration. Recently he has been using his BIM expertise creating a 3-d model for the new USCG headquarters building in Washington D.C. This work is being done as a part of the AEC Infosystems team contracted to perform a Space Allocation and Verification Assessment for GSA on the design created by Perkins & Will. His experience with this technology began with ArchiCAD version 4.0 and has continued through the current release of version13.

Joe has been involved on the AIA TiP (Technology in Practice) committee and actively works to push the limits of BIM for the good of the entire profession and the construction industry. As a part of the AEC Infosystems team he participated in a live demonstration to the DOD of “Build SMART” sponsored by the National Institute of Building Standards (NIBS) in 2005. His company was also involved in a project with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) creating a BIM for their use in their CONTAM research model.

Though a small company, Joe Architect & Company has always employed the comprehensive use of BIM in its every day practice. From design, presentation, visualization, construction documentation, data management, and construction administration the BIM process is an integral part of the work process.
